SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
Horizons Albuquerque Summer students are served by the Bernalillo County Summer Food Service Program and lunches for enrolled students are served at all three of our summer sites: Manzano Day School, Bosque School and Sandia Prep.
For the general public the closest program locations to Bosque and Sandia Prep are at La Ladera Park and Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center. The closest program locations to Manzano Day School are at Tiguex Park, Los Duranes Park, and Barelas Community Center. Please read below for more information regarding the program.
2026 Bernalillo County Summer Food Services Program
Bernalillo County will begin serving meals to children within unincorporated areas of the county beginning on Monday, June 1, 2026. The program will be available in the unincorporated County areas such as the South Valley, North Valley, East Mountains, the Pueblo of Isleta, and Paradise Hills area.
Bernalillo County has served thousands of free and nutritious meals to children in need each summer for over 50 years. Meals are served at county parks and community centers, county pools, summer recreation programs, mobile home parks and apartment complexes.
Program Rules:
- Participants must be a child or teen between the ages of 1 to 18 years old to receive a meal.
- Meals must be consumed at the meal site (except for non-congregate sites)
- All meals are served on a first come, first served basis.
- Participants must receive the entire meal, including milk.
Rural Grab and Go sites:
The following are sites Grab and Go sites located in rural areas. It is not required for children to consume meals on site (non-congregate). These sites are as follows:
- Pajarito Mesa Community Building
- Los Vecinos Community Center
- Vista Grande Community Center
- Chilili Multipurpose Center
- Isleta Pueblo Public Library
- Isleta Recreation Center
Most lunch locations will operate from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m., but some locations will serve lunches from noon to 2:00 p.m. No registration is required.
Please note that lunch will not be served on the following dates: June 19 (Juneteenth) and July 4 (Independence Day).
